These are the sellers' own numbers. We didn't find a solid independent survey of what Michigan owners actually pay, so treat every range here, ours included, as a starting point.
What do Michigan web firms charge right now?
All prices below are as of November 2026, taken from each company's own page.
| What you're buying | Published price | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Do-it-yourself builder | About $18 to $40 a month on yearly billing | Wix (prices vary by location), Squarespace |
| Freelancer | $500 to $5,000 | A Detroit agency's guide, so a competitor's view |
| One-page site | $750 to $1,200 | A Traverse City firm, a Grand Rapids-area firm |
| Small site, about 4 to 8 pages | $2,500 to $4,000 | Grand Rapids-area firm, Traverse City firm |
| Small site, 3 to 5 pages, agency estimate | $3,000 to $8,000 | The same Detroit guide |
| 8 to 10 pages | $4,000 to $6,000 or more | Traverse City firm |
| Monthly plan, little or no upfront cost | $67 to about $600 a month | A Flint firm. A Grand Rapids firm starts at $299 |
Other published starting points fall in the same zone: $2,997 at a Livonia firm and $3,500 at an Ann Arbor firm. Other firms don't list a price, and one Lansing-area firm, for example, shares pricing on a discovery call. Just ask.
Why does one quote come in at double another?
Two quotes for "a website" are often for different jobs. These are the things that move the price the most:
- Page count. More pages mean more writing, photos and checking.
- Who writes the words. Writing is real work. Some prices include it, and some expect you to supply it.
- Features. A call button and a form are simple. Online booking, calculators and customer logins cost more.
- Selling online. Published store prices start around $4,500 at a small firm, and one Detroit agency estimates $15,000 to $50,000 or more.
- Who does the work. Clutch's Michigan listings show typical small-shop rates of $50 to $149 an hour, and $150 to $199 at premium boutiques.
What will you keep paying after launch?
The build price is only part of the bill. Budget for these too:
- Your domain name. Keep it registered in your own name.
- Hosting. Some firms charge by the month, such as $97 a month at one Michigan firm.
- Care and updates. Published Michigan care plans run from $59 to $119 a month at one firm to $197 a month and up at another.
- Getting found. Local SEO is usually separate. Ahrefs' survey of 439 SEO providers, updated in 2024, put the average at $1,557 a month.
Sales tax can also apply to some web work. Ask your CPA how your project should be handled, and look for tax as a separate line on any quote.
What do we charge?
Our prices are set by the job and published. You approve a written quote before any work starts.
| Job | Our price |
|---|---|
| One-page website | $750 |
| 5-page website | $2,500 |
| 10-page website | $4,000 |
| 20-page website with blog | $5,500 |
| Online store on Shopify (Shopify's own fees are separate) | $4,500 |
| Hosting for a site we built | $120 a year |
| Care plan (optional) | $99 a month |
| Growth plan (optional) | $595 a month |
That puts our 5-page site at the low end of the published range, but it isn't the lowest offer out there. One Grand Rapids-area firm lists a starting price of $2,500 for up to 8 pages, so compare what's included before you decide.
When is the cheaper option the right one?
Spending more doesn't always make sense. A cheaper route may fit better if:
- You're just starting out and still testing the idea. A builder lets you get online for little money.
- Your work comes almost entirely from referrals, and people only need to confirm that you're real. One page can handle that.
- You enjoy this kind of work and have the time to keep it up.
- You don't have the cash upfront. A monthly plan can work, as long as you read what happens when you stop paying.
How do you compare quotes fairly?
Put every quote side by side and check the same five things:
- How many pages, and who writes them?
- What is the yearly cost after launch?
- Who owns the site and the domain when it's paid for?
- How many rounds of changes are included?
- What happens if you decide to leave?
If a quote can't answer those in writing, it isn't ready to compare yet.
What's a good next step?
Add up a rough total on our price list, or ask for a fixed price in writing if you want a number to compare against other quotes.
